A foundation is the most important part of any construction. Alterations in the foundation will cause long term problems to your property. Before investing considerable sums to repair your foundation, call Les Fondations d’Aujourd’hui Inc. and you will see and experience the difference !
There exist many methods to prevent water and moisture from coming into contact with a foundation. Tar can be used as a coating that serves only as a simple dampproofing, which is a minimal building code requirement. This is why it is so inexpensive. A hydrofuge waterproofing system that completely seals the foundation is recommended on all new and existing foundations, which we offer.
First principle of waterproofing a foundation:
We now offer TUFF-N-DRI a 100% total waterproofing hydrofuge membrane that guarantees that your new or existing foundation is completely waterproofed and protected against any water infiltration or humidity. As well, it is approved by the Canadian research council of Canada as a foundation waterproofing system (CCMC 13068-R).
TUFF-N-DRI waterproofing is a hydrofuge elastomric membrane that is applied directly onto the foundation through high pressure and high temperature [picture A]. This reaction of both high heat and high pressure is what cures the liquid membrane and thus leaving a rubber flexible hydrofuge waterproof membrane.
After curing is complete, approximately 12 to 16 hours after application, the membrane will have cured to thickness of no less than 40 mils which are at least four times greater than typical tar dampproofing applications. The only real 100% waterproofing system !! Guaranteed !!
The advantage of TUFF-N-DRI waterproofing system is that after it is applied, you are left with a seamless and jointless foundation membrane. The membrane is always flexible even in extremely cold temperatures. This membrane offers an elongation of up to 2000%, thus enabling it to seal cracks up to a ¼’’ in diam where cracks have formed from initial drying or due to years of frost heave or freeze thaw movement.
Second principle of waterproofing a foundation:
To further aid the drainage of water around your foundation after TUFF-N-DRI waterproofing has been installed, we install DELTA-MS or DELTA DRAIN which is an 8mm high density polyethylene dimpled drainage foundation membrane that forms an air gap. This will reduce hydrostatic pressure against the foundation walls and direct water to exterior French drains. It is installed over the foundation walls and directly over footings. DELTA-MS is impermeable to water, water vapour and impervious to soil acids and fertilizers which may be present in soils. The end result is having absolutely no water, soil, rocks or humidity coming in contact with your foundation walls, thus reduces heating costs inside your dwelling.
With the combination of TUFF-N-DRI waterproofing membrane and DELTA-MS installed together, we offer the home owner a 20 year no water infiltration guarantee giving you peace of mind. Consider also that a waterproofed house is the basis of a healthy home. A home that will be enjoyed for many years to come. The sealing of the floor slab is also possible with the help of DELTA-MS UNDERSLAB which prevents the upward migration of moisture through the capillaries that exist in concrete formations. This vapour barrier is placed directly on the soil or gravel before pouring the concrete.Foundation waterproofing Waterproofing service to prevent water penetration in foundations through the use of TUFF-N-DRI hydrofuge membrane and DELTA-MS polyethylene dimpled drainage membrane.
